The Berge Group presently consists of five Arizona corporations in several major metro areas:
Phoenix, Mesa, Gilbert and Tucson.
These include:
The Berge Group was founded and is operated primarily for the purpose of delivering quality products and service to our customers and to provide jobs and job security for our employees, as well as for the benefit of the community. Our commitment in each location was made only after determining the standards and quality of the products and services, which could be furnished to the public. The Berge Group experiences very little attrition with its top managers. And that says a lot to our customers. The Berge Group actively supports training and management development programs for all its employees. This yields better customer service and friendlier staff. We have managers on board who are dedicated to the principles of the organization, many of who have been with Brent Berge (Owner) for over 30 years.
Brent C. Berge, the company’s sole owner, is married with five children. He graduated from the University of Arizona in 1962 with a B.S. Degree in General Business. Mr. Berge started his career in 1962 as a salesman for Smiley/Berge Ford. He was promoted to truck manager of that dealership in 1965. He remained in that capacity until 1972, when he opened his first dealership, Berge Mazda. He also opened Desert Toyota that same year. Brent merged the Mazda store and Volkswagen in 1976. He went on to open several more stores, including: Bell Ford in Phoenix, Fiesta Lincoln-Mercury in Mesa, and Bell Lexus in Phoenix. Whenever you see Mr. Berge as he visits and supervises the various dealerships, be sure to say hello. Mr. Berge's father, C.M. "Shorty" Berge, began his career in 1942 as a partner at Madison Motors in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. C. M. Berge opened Smiley/Berge Ford as a full partner in 1951 and bought out Mr. Smiley in 1965, when it became Berge Ford. That company is presently owned by Brent Berge’s brother and is not a part of our company. The Berge Family has a highly-regarded reputation for integrity, business sense and success
everywhere they do business.
The following items are brief statements about the things we believe in and the way we work::
The Goals.
A Commitment To Excellence - is what separates talented good people from the great ones.
The Greatest thing in life is life itself and the opportunities that come with it.
Aggressive Hospitality/10 Foot Rule – When you get within 10’ of anybody (customer or fellow
employee), acknowledge with a smile and friendly greeting. Be the first to say hello with
customers and each other. Assist the customer or anyone in finding whom or what they are
looking for, don’t just point them in the right direction. Make everyone feel welcome, at home
and at ease. Let them know they are appreciated and show personal interest in them. Without
our customers none of us have a job.
Believe – If you believe strongly enough that you will achieve a goal – you will.
Character - is what you do when no one is listening or watching.
People make things happen; not big stores, not big advertising – it's people.
To Remain Successful – Ask: Where am I today? Where do I want to be? How much time do I
have to get there? How am I going to get there? A goal without a plan is only a daydream.
